What the track does
Each diode sits in an aluminum track, not clipped to a gutter. That channel hides the hardware and aims the output. Color matching is part of the specification, not something added afterward.
Individual diodes, not one long bulb
Each LED in the run can be set independently. Without individual control you get one color across every foot of the run. With it patterns become possible. Most nights nobody uses any of that, which is not a criticism.Look at somebody's finished work in the sun, since a dark sky covers a multitude of shortcuts.
Power, wiring and the box on the wall
Behind the visible run there is a wire path, a power connection and a controller. Wire routing is the quiet quality signal, since sloppy runs are obvious once you know to look. Ask where the wire goes and where the controller mounts before the install, not after.
What it means that it never comes down
The upside of leaving it up comes with an obligation: it has to be installed well the first time. Careful work holds up. A rushed one announces itself in daylight, which defeats the entire point. The hardware is the easier half. The workmanship is the other half.
Living outside in the Upstate
Nothing about leaving it up is easy on the equipment. Summer heat builds up along a sunlit fascia, and heat is the enemy of anything with a circuit in it. Moisture finds every weak joint. Which is why the connections, the seals and the way the wire is terminated matter as much as the diodes.
